Description
Give your vintage hardware the refresh it deserves. As consoles age, the original electrolytic capacitors leak or dry out, which can lead to washed-out video, muffled audio, power instability, and—eventually—permanent motherboard damage from leaked electrolyte.
A full "ReCap" (capacitor replacement) is the single best way to extend the life of your console for another 20+ years.
The "Start Here" Rule
If your console is acting up, a recap is almost always the best place to start. It eliminates the most common failure point in retro electronics.
Learn More: To understand why these components fail and how they can damage your motherboard if left untreated, read our guide on The Importance of Retro Console Recapping.
No Guarantees & Other Faults
Please note: This service is a component refresh, not a guaranteed fix-all repair. While new capacitors often solve issues like low sound or wavy video lines, some consoles suffer from deeper problems that a recap cannot fix, such as:
- Failing custom ICs or CPUs
- Corroded traces from past battery or capacitor leakage
- Faulty voltage regulators or laser assemblies
- Dead RAM chips
Important: We do not guarantee that a recap will fix a non-working console. If your system has a complex hardware failure beyond the capacitors, a recap may not restore it to full operation. If your console is currently "dead" or has a specific major fault, please contact us for an appraisal before booking this service.
