Rockman X2, also known as Mega Man X2, is set in the ambiguous 22nd century where humans live alongside mechanical beings called "Reploids" (replicant androids), who have a tendency toward destructive behaviour. You, the player, takes on the role of character X, who must clear a series of eight stages, as a Reploids hunter (Mavericks Hunter), to make the world a safer place.
