S-Video (also known as Y/C) is an older analogue signaling standard for standard-definition video, typically 480i or 576i. By separating the black-and-white and coloring signals, it achieves better image quality than composite video (Yellow plug), but has lower color resolution than RGB or Component video.

In our opinion S-Video a huge leap in quality over Composite video and most retro consoles support S-Video from the factory or with a small modification. If your TV supports S-Video then this cable is a must.
